| Essex Probation completed a positive year by achieving a Green Star rating. This is the highest rating available and demonstrates the progress made over the past 12 months. This high level of performance has allowed Essex Probation to apply for, and achieve, agreement to proceed to Trust status. This is an impressive achievement, especially as this high performance was delivered with large changes taking place across the organisation including significant operational changes.
Our performance was noted by the Director of Offender Management who stated, “It was particularly heartening to see such a strong return to form for Essex in relation to performance against SLA targets with all the target metrics being met or exceeded. Such an achievement gives confidence that Essex remains effectively led by an appropriately performance focussed Board and Chief Officer."
Our performance this year is a tribute to a skilled team who work with some of the most difficult people in our society. Our staff are focussed, industrious, creative, and take pride in delivering a service that benefits offenders and the general public by reducing offending rates.
Despite our impressive achievements this year, we will continue to analyse our performance. This will allow us to continually improve our service in turn protecting the public and helping offenders to positively change their lives. Our progress this year gives us cause to look ahead with confidence and optimism, having attained a good set of performance figures which we will again aim to better in the forthcoming year. We have more to prove to ourselves and more to achieve for you.
