PARTNERSHIPS

We are members of (and often commissioners within) a range of strategic partnerships covering the Essex County Council area, including the 12 District and Borough Council areas, and the Southend and Thurrock unitary areas to provide a variety of services addressing issues as diverse as Creating Cohesive, Safe and Sustainable Communities, addressing all aspects of Drug and Alcohol Misuse, Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, providing Accommodation and other support to enable a wide range of Vulnerable groups to live independently and successfully in the Community.

These include:

  • Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs)
who work to reduce Crime and Disorder in local areas and whose focus includes such areas as Prolific & other Priority Offender (PPO) Schemes (targeting the most prolific offenders in areas), Crime Prevention activity and public awareness events of all kinds, services to reduce the incidence of Domestic Abuse and protect and support victims, schemes to tackle Anti-Social Behaviour, activity designed to reduce the damage done to communities caused by Alcohol and a range of activities focusing on the safety, well-being and aspirations of Children and Young People.

  • Drug and Alcohol Action Teams (DAATs)
Commissioning a full range of services for Substance Misusers (both within the Criminal Justice System and outside it) to reduce the incidence of drug misuse and to lessen the harm done to communities and to individual drug misusers.

  • Safeguarding Children’s Boards and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults’ Boards
Working with all other key public bodies to keep safe all children in the Essex Probation Area and improve their well-being and life-chances and to safeguarding all groups of vulnerable adults.
  • Children’s Trusts
Commissioning a full range of services for Children and Young People in the Essex Probation Area, including providing support for parents and families.
  • Strategic Partnerships –
Bringing together all public bodies to address the key strategic priorities identified by the people of Essex, Southend and Thurrock and work together to provide and commission, separately or together, services to meet those priority needs, EPA has worked with its partners to forge Local Area Agreements, spelling out how we will work together to provide services to create and sustain vibrant, harmonious, healthy, economically successful and crime-free communities. A key issue for EPA and all of its partners within the LAA partnerships is ensuring that all we do meets the needs and the priorities and the public and that people in Essex, Southend and Thurrock have confidence in the work of their public bodies and the quality of the services they provide. An example of EPA and our partners working in harmony for the benefit of the communities we serve is the inclusion within the Essex Local Area Agreement of a jointly-shared priority to Reduce Reoffending by Offenders under the supervision of the Probation Service.
